How HELB Works

Understanding the HELB loan process

1. Apply for Admission

Get admitted to a recognized Kenyan university or college. You need an admission letter to apply for HELB.

2. Submit HELB Application

Apply online through the HELB student portal. We handle this entire process for you — form filling, document upload, and submission.

3. Loan Processing & Disbursement

HELB processes your application and disburses funds directly to your university (tuition) and bank account (upkeep).

4. Repayment After Graduation

Start repaying one year after graduation or upon employment. Use M-Pesa Paybill 200800, bank deposit, or employer check-off.
